~ Be encouraged, only God can judge us!— a devotional ~
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. ~John 5:30
This is Jesus, speaking, saying it’s his Father’s will, not His. When we allow our ego to cast judgement, it’s like believing we are better than others! Stay humble and remember we can’t do anything without God and His grace, so let God be God, the only true judge. Only God can judge and His judgement is just.
More Verses on Judging
A few insights on Biblical judgment from Christian Activities:
- The Bible doesn’t condemn judging altogether, but rather instructs believers to judge with righteousness, meaning to evaluate situations and make decisions based on truth and justice.
- John 7:24:This verse, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment,” is a key passage that highlights the importance of looking beyond superficial judgments and making decisions based on a deeper understanding of the situation.
- Matthew 7:2:Jesus states, “For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged,” emphasizing that our judgments will be mirrored in the judgments we receive.
- Proverbs 31:8-9:This passage encourages opening one’s mouth to “judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy,” highlighting the importance of using one’s voice to advocate for justice.
- 1 Corinthians 6:2:This verse states, “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?” suggesting that believers might be given a role in God’s final judgment.
Prayer
Lord God, forgive me, I repent and pray that any and all egotistical, self righteousness or pride be purged completely from my heart. Help me Jesus to stay humble and turn to you for all things, that I not try to judge others from a place of ego, least I be judged. My prayer is that I let You be the judge over all things, knowing Your judgment is just, in the precious name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
