Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
Psalm 86: 11-13
What a mighty God we serve, sometimes we forget that! We get so caught up in all the HE does or doesn’t do for us, that we loose sight of how awesome HE is! We need to step back and focus on HIS glory and HIS majesty! One of the biggest components of our walk with Christ is, to fear and revere the One that made us. Never taking for granted what an honor it is to enter into HIS Presence and the privilege it is to bow down to HIS holiness! “I am the LORD ; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another .” Isaiah 42:8.
God knows us better than anyone, and HE has plans for us. The same God that individually designed each one of us in our mother’s womb, is the same God that spoke our world and the heavens into existence, scattered the stars, ignited the sun, engineered the perfection of planetary movement and measured the seas in HIS hands! As soon as mankind rejected HIS Presence, He put into motion the plan for our salvation! He didn’t want to be separated from us! That is hard to comprehend, that kind of love and relentless pursuit! If God can chase us even when we fail, reject, and deny HIM…..how much more should we boldly and diligently seek HIM, to give HIM the honor and glory for exactly who HE is………GOD and GOD alone! The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.Psalm 111:10
It is very hard to understand God’s unconditional Love, our minds can’t wrap around it! Since we aren’t capable of that kind of love, we allow ourselves to be easily convinced with satan’s lies. This is how the enemy keeps us from worshiping God’s majesty and falling down in HIS Presence and glory! Satan deceives us by whispering things like, “God doesn’t really love ‘you,’ if ‘you’ were the only one on earth Christ would not have suffered and died for ‘you’!” The biggest tragedy is, when we believe this lie, we miss out on the best part of our relationship with God! We get so close to Him yet, fall short of worshipping HIS glory and majesty…all that HE is! Without understanding HIS greatness, we lack a healthy fear of God! Therefore we do not come into HIS Presence with awe and ultimate respect! God will still be God if we do not do this, our lack of understanding and acknowledgment doesn’t take anything away from who HE is! God remains on the throne for all eternity regardless of anyone else’s opinion! The sad part about rejecting this Truth or ignoring it is, missing the opportunity to be all that we can be in HIM! Our relationship with HIM will never reach the level of intimacy and closeness that God desires! Our one and only life here on earth, will fall short of “HIS will” for us. Our personal walk with HIM will be empty, void of the closeness HE longs for with each one of us!
It is like being snatched from the grip of a raging river, by the powerful arm of a hungry grizzly! Your concern would immediately divert from the river and all its worries, to the one who holds you! Would you be worried about the pitfalls of the river, like the current or the temperature? No, I don’t think those things would be on your mind at all. I believe your attention would focus directly on the hungry bear. Questions like, when was his last meal, would you taste good to him, would he eat you and will he let you go without tasting you first! You would probably experience instant humbleness and reverence for what this grizzly just saved you from and all that he could do to you, if he wanted to!
In this same way God saves us from an eternal raging river, that ends in utter despair, failure and separation from HIM! He did not have to save us, yet HE chose to! After we come to know Christ, HIS grip on us is more powerful than anything we will ever know! We must recognize that within this grip, from this same HAND….. nations have been destroyed, leaders taken out, HIS commandments written on stone tablets, waters were parted and held back, plagues unleashed, bodies healed, creation flowed, the dead were raised, sunsets painted, tears wiped away and forgiveness and mercy freely flows! Compassion, Salvation, creation, beauty, peace, mercy, grace, truth and love flow from the same hand that wields, discipline, wrath and judgment! We must understand that we fall short of HIS standards, and we don’t deserve anything HE has given or done for us. The next sentence you usually hear after this statement is, “but Christ died for all your sins and you are forgiven.” We tend to jump right to the, “forgiven” part to ease the guilt and pain of our flesh! Obviously Christ died to wash us clean and this is the precious benefit of salvation. But so often we skip over the one piece of the Truth that is crucial for all believers to constantly be mindful of! We need to allow this amazing reality soak in, to get deep into our spirits! We can’t rush past the part about Christ dying for us. When we do, we loose respect and understanding of exactly who HE is and why this sacrifice was so amazing!!!
GOD in all HIS glory could have just taken us out, because we did not match up and fell short! Yet, our Creator, Master of all, with greatness we cannot fathom–came down in the flesh to suffer and die, so that we might live! We constantly need to come to THIS place, drop to our faces and give HIM glory! It is in this position that we can gain the right perspective of humble reverence for the King of kings! I believe you have missed out if you have never seen God as HE truly is, and assumed this reverent, prostrate position–before HIS throne! From this view—it all becomes crystal clear as you see the One you are serving! HIS greatness, HIS glory, HIS Presence falls like never before when you honor, adore and worship HIM!!! As you come in obedience, entering into HIS throne room with absolute fear and reverence, HIS Love will flow down upon you like nothing you have ever experienced! A passion and hunger to meet with HIM will overtake all your other desires! Your focus will be riveted on HIM and not yourself. When your gaze is fixed upon the LORD, HIS glory so bright, you will fade into HIS shadow and it is impossible to see yourself! This is the ultimate position for all believers!
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
The LORD Almighty planned it, to bring low the pride of all glory and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
Good and upright is the LORD ; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.
I have revealed and saved and proclaimed- I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD , “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the LORD , you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing
