Fans of rock and rap will enjoy some of Christian music’s biggest names when they come to Rochester as part of the “Live Love” tour. Superchick, Sanctus Real, John Reuben, and Last Tuesday will be in concert Tuesday, October 10, at Roberts Wesleyan College’s Cultural Life Center, 2301 Westside Drive.
Tickets for the 7pm concert are $15 general admission or $17 artist circle. High school and college students can get $2 off with a valid student ID. Superchick, a band which identifies with and reaches out to young people who aren’t in the “in crowd,” has been around since 1999, releasing popular CDs like “Karaoke Superstar,” “Last One Picked,” and “Beauty from Pain.” Superchick features vocalist Tricia Brock, vocalist/guitarist Melissa Brock, bassist/vocalist Matt Dally, lead guitarist Dave Ghazarian, drummer Brandon Estelle, and keyboardist/DJ/producer Max Hsu. Their music is a unique blend of punk-rock riffs, hip-hop beats and R&B melodies intertwined with solid songwriting. Their songs are often used in TV shows and movies. For instance, the song “Anthem” became the theme for MTV’s “Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet 2.” Recently, “It’s On” was used in the film “Zoom,” and “We Live” was used in commercials for the upcoming ABC series, “Brothers & Sisters.”
Besides Superchick, Sanctus Real and Last Tuesday will provide their modern rock sound at the “Live Love” Rochester stop, while John Reuben will get the crowd pumped with his hip-hop songs.
The “Live Love” tour is being brought to Rochester by Kingdom Bound, sponsor of the annual Kingdom Bound Christian music festival, to be held next summer, August 5-8, 2007, at Six Flags Darien Lake amusement park and camping resort.
