Super Group Point Of Grace Announces First Major Headline Tour in Two Years

Platinum-selling and chart topping vocal group, Point Of
Grace, announces its first headline tour in over two years. The group’s Free To Fly Tour is in
support of its sixth and already critically acclaimed Word/Epic Records project, Free To Fly,
which releases May 1. Beginning in September and continuing in the spring of 2002, the tour
currently includes over fourteen states this fall alone and visits such major markets as
Minneapolis, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Chicago, among others.
Award-winning Essential Records artist FFH will join the tour as a special guest.
The Free To Fly tour marks the first opportunity for fans to see Point Of Grace on a headline tour
since the spring of 1999. For this tour, the group promises some new surprises. “We wanted to
make the concerts on our tour this year something special for our faithful friends,” explains Point
Of Grace member Heather Payne. “So, we decided to have an “all request” segment in the middle
of our concert. The interaction as we come into the audience and take requests should make it fun
for the audience, as well as for us. We also have two new band members that we can’t wait for
everyone to meet.”
“Oh yeah,” continues Payne, “did I mention that we’re traveling with one of my favorite groups,
FFH.”
After recording and touring for ten years, Point Of Grace members spent the last two years
refueling, focusing on their families, and concentrating on ministry opportunities like the Women
of Faith conferences. The group’s absence from the concert scene for such an extended time
period has left critics and fans alike hungry for more of Point Of Grace’s trademark harmonies
and dynamic live performances.
“Promoters from coast to coast are very excited about this tour,” noted Charles Dorris, William
Morris Agency agent. “After 18 months off the touring circuit there is huge, pent up demand to
see Point Of Grace in concert. We have had three offers for every available date on the tour.
Their previous tour sold out 41 of 69 shows and we anticipate this tour to sell out in most
markets.”
In addition to launching its new tour, Point Of Grace will release its first studio recording in
almost two years. The project, Free To Fly, delivers dynamic performances highlighted by Point
Of Grace’s trademark harmonies. The group intimately involved itself in each aspect of the
creative process on Free To Fly hand selecting the recordings twelve songs. The group also
enlisted for the project top producers David Tyson (Jude Cole, Amanda Marshall, Tina Arena),
Watermark’s Nathan Nockles, Brown Bannister (Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman), Tom
Laune (CeCe Winans, Phil Keaggy), Glenn Garrett and Wayne Tester (Anointed, Wynonna
Judd). The result is an honest and insightful recording that reflects changes the group has
experienced as Christian women, as artists, as working women and, in the case of members Denise
Jones and Terry Jones, as new mothers.
Formed in 1991 on the campus of Arkansas college, Point Of Grace quickly established itself as
one of today’s premiere vocal groups. Point Of Grace has accumulated 21 consecutive #1 radio
singles, two platinum records, four gold records, top Billboard charting action, and numerous
Grammy and Dove accolades to its credit. One of the most highly profiled groups in or outside
the Christian music arena, Point Of Grace has also gained national media exposure on programs
like “Entertainment Tonight,” “Regis and Kathie Lee,” “CBS This Morning,” “The View,” “Good
Morning America,” and VH-1, as well as with articles in The New York Times Magazine, USA
Today Weekend, and Time Magazine.
For the Free To Fly Tour, Point Of Grace will welcome one of Christian music’s most successful new artists, Essential Records artist FFH. Named Christian Research Report’s Best New Artist of 1999, as well as named one of the best artists of 1999 by Release Magazine, FFH’s current critically acclaimed album, Found A Place, and its breakthrough national debut, “I Want To Be Like You,” have sold nearly half-a-million copies. The group was honored with four Dove Award nominations from the Gospel Music Association including Best New Artist, Best Pop/Contemporary Song for “One of These Days,” and Inspirational Song of the Year for “Your Love Is Life to Me.” Just prior to embarking on this tour, FFH is slated to release its third national recording August 21, 2001.
