Celebrants to publicly pray, worship and mediate on the passion and suffering of Jesus Christ on the day he was crucified. Members to also leave a rose at every Station of the Cross.
Organizers want to share the power of God’s love to a broken and hurting world and also to remind our political and judicial leaders that the message of the cross in one of sacrifice and service to others.
The Stations of the Cross will begin at Columbus Circle in front of Union Station on Good Friday, April 14 at 2:30 P.M.
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition and one of the sponsors of the event, comments, “It is essential during these troubling and difficult times that we publicly reflect on God’s powerful love for humanity and the great price that was paid by Christ to bring us into a relationship with God. This Good Friday’s public celebration is a reminder of God’s extraordinary grace and mercy to a hurting world. It is also a reminder to all public officials that we should follow Christ’s example of humility, sacrifice and service to humanity.”
