Curtain Call Productions proudly announces the September 6th, 2005 release of the United States Military Academy Cadet Glee Club’s extraordinary recording entitled Stand Ye Steady – Songs of Courage and Inspiration. Available on CD and DVD with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, Stand Ye Steady is a remarkable and rare collaboration featuring 16 songs that capture the commitment, selflessness and vitality of our Armed Forces through passionate performances of some of our country’s most cherished patriotic, inspirational and choral compositions. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the project will be donated to charities assisting U.S. military men, women and their families.
Along with featured guest appearances by Tony Award winner Lea Salonga and America’s beloved tenor Daniel Rodriguez, the USMA Cadet Glee Club performs choral repertoire including the song Men of Freedom with lyrics penned by Executive Producer Doug Coppi, Founder and CEO of Curtain Call Productions.
The USMA has received recent media coverage profiling the 2005 graduating class—those who enrolled in 2001, just before the world changed—and how the most storied military academy has prepared these graduates to face active duty and a new kind of war. Recent features include a cover story in Time Magazine, a segment on CBS’ 60 Minutes, coverage on NBC Nightly News and a New York Post feature story.
Doug Coppi conceived and financed this project, and with the full support of the United States Military Academy made it a reality to show support for all the men and women of our Armed Forces who have served America both now and in the past. The Stand Ye Steady DVD offers historic, visual testimony to these brave soldiers and their leaders, and the Stand Ye Steady CD features the music soundtrack.
“I wanted to use a medium I love—inspirational choral music—and capture it on video with 5.1 surround sound,” says Doug Coppi, “to tell the story of all the men and women who have served this great country and made very dear sacrifices to support and defend her values. I also wanted the music sung by a group that showed those same ideals – the Cadets of West Point. The repertoire was chosen to keep the members of our Armed Forces fresh in our hearts throughout the year since there is a song for every holiday and day of remembrance.”
Stand Ye Steady also marks the first-ever video and music recording in the cathedral-like 100-year-old Cadet Chapel at West Point that houses the largest church organ in the world. This project was recorded, mixed and mastered using state-of-the-art technology at 24Bit resolution in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound by Gold Record Producer John McCracken and seven-time GRAMMY winning Engineer Richard King.
Stand Ye Steady – Songs of Courage and Inspiration is available on CD and DVD and will be available in our Music & Books store on September 6th, 2005. In addition, all donations made by Curtain Call Productions LLC will be directed to charitable organizations assisting U.S troops and their families. The initial charity recipient is the Yellow Ribbon Fund in Washington, DC. The Yellow Ribbon Fund places money directly in the hands of families visiting their wounded and disabled family members, many of whom are amputees in area hospitals. For more information please visit www.yellowribbonfund.org/. Additional recipients of charitable proceeds from sales of Stand Ye Steady will have the same mission.
