Five Spring Hill Music artists received nine Gospel Music
Association Dove Award nominations at a press conference held in downtown
Nashville last Friday. Three of Spring Hill’s Southern Gospel artists took
three of the five nominations for ‘Southern Gospel Song’ also making a
strong showing for ‘Country Recorded Song’ and ‘Southern Gospel Album.’
Six-time Dove Award winners The Martins received two nominations: “Don’t
Wanna Miss a Thing” (Windows) for ‘Southern Gospel Recorded Song’ and
‘Inspirational Album’ for their Dec. 1999 release, Windows.
Southern Gospel group Karen Peck & New River also received two nominations:
“Four Days Late” (A Taste of Grace) for ‘Southern Gospel Recorded Song’ and
A Taste of Grace for ‘Southern Gospel Album.’ This is the third nomination
for the group whose “Four Days Late” held the No. 1 position across three
Southern Gospel radio charts for three months.
Gaither Vocal Band’s “God Is Good All the Time” (God Is Good) competes for
the ‘Southern Gospel Recorded Song’ award and their current project, I Do
Believe, is nominated for ‘Southern Gospel Album.’
Jeff & Sheri Easter garnered two nominations as well, both for ‘Country
Recorded Song’: “Morning’s Coming” from Sittin’ on Cloud Nine and “We’re
Not Gonna Bow” from their current album, Ordinary Day. Jeff & Sheri Easter
won their first Dove Award for ‘Country Album’ in 1999 for A Work in
Progress.
Sam Levine earned his fourth Dove nomination in the ‘Instrumental’ category
with his latest CD, Sax for the Spirit.
Dove Award nominations go to recordings released during the eligibility year
November 1999 through Oct. 31, 2000, and are voted on by the 5000 member
Gospel Music Association.
