Serving Others

Matthew 20:28 - "The Son of Man did not come to served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Every so often I have one child act as the servant to her siblings. Build this up to be a privilege. This is her opportunity to be most like Jesus. The designated servant gets to prepare and serve breakfast, open car doors, pick up the other childs toys, and do anything else she can to show love for her family. Remind the served children of the difference between a slave and a servant. They are not allowed to order the servant around; the servant decides how to serve her family. Not only does this teach the children about serving others, it also builds up the sibling relationship.
