Multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist Sandi Patty returns to her musical roots with the
long-awaited February 11 release of Take Hold Of Christ on Word Records.
Take Hold Of Christ, marking Patty’s 23rd album release, embraces Patty’s foundational upbringing in the church as well as
musically lining up with her career-making, signature Sandi Patty moments.
Patty comments, “The thing that really struck me when I was listening to these new songs, was I began to feel some of the same
feelings as when I had heard songs like ‘How Majestic Is Your Name,’ ‘We Shall Behold Him,’ and ‘More Than Wonderful.’”
Take Hold Of Christ features 10 cuts, many showcasing those same lush orchestrations and climactic musical moments that have
defined Patty’s sound throughout the years. In addition to the title-cut, highlights of the project include the upbeat and worshipful
“Mighty Is The Name of the Lord,” “The Heavens Are Telling,” and “Wonderful One”; the intimate “Fields of Mercy” and “Savior
Came (When I Was Needy)”; and a dramatic recording of the revered choral anthem, “The Majesty and Glory of Your Name,”
among other selections.
On the production side of Take Hold Of Christ, Patty teamed up with long-time producer friend Greg Nelson, whose credits
include such signature projects as Patty’s Morning Like This and Make His Praise Glorious, among others. Musical
arrangements and orchestrations were composed by David Hamilton, whose credits include works by Shania Twain, Michael W.
Smith and Steve Green.
“I’ve witnessed firsthand Sandi’s passion for these songs and her faith,” says Mark Lusk, senior vice president of marketing and
artist development for Warner Bros. Records Christian Division. “I’m amazed at how she continues to impact people from both the
stage and face to face. She is one of the finest talents around and no doubt this album will win over both faithful fans and new
listeners.”
Patty recently headlined 23 consecutive sold-out “Yule-Tide” performances with the Indianapolis Symphony. In 2002 alone, Patty
performed over 100 concerts with 2003 promising another busy schedule, including a church tour showcasing the new sounds of
Take Hold Of Christ.
“I hope that as I have the opportunity to share these songs and know first of all how they have touched me that they can be an
encouragement, ” shares Patty. “The lyrics of these songs can remind all of us, including myself every time I sing them, that God has
not forgotten us, that He is with us throughout the everyday of our lives and we matter a great deal.”
With 39 Dove Awards, five Grammy Awards, three platinum and five gold recordings to her credit, Patty is the most-awarded female
vocalist in contemporary Christian music history. She has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “A Capitol
Fourth with the National Symphony,” and ABC’s 2002 “In Search of America: A July 4th Musical Celebration,” among other
programs. In addition, Patty has been a familiar voice in such settings as three United States Presidential Inaugural Gala events, the
rededication of the Statue of Liberty and Billy Graham Crusades in the United States and Argentina.
