Salvador Releases Worship Live CD and DVD September 23

Slightly over a month after releasing its first all-Spanish album Con Poder to immediate critical acclaim, Salvador will release its first live CD and its first DVD, both entitled Worship Live, September 23. Dubbed as Christian music’s hardest-working and best live band, Salvador will be joining Jaci Velasquez for a significant nationwide tour this fall in support of its new projects, in addition to performing at Disney’s Night of Joy, Promise Keepers, and a Franklin Graham Crusade.
“We’ve always wanted to do a live project. It’s always been a dream of ours,” explains Salvador frontman Nic Gonzales. “When Barry Landis, the president of our record label (Word), met with us and asked us what we wanted to do, we totally jumped at the chance to tell him about the live project that had been on our hearts. When we told him, he was ecstatic!”
“We couldn’t be more pleased with Salvador and the new live projects,” says Landis. “They are great musicians, and they have amazing stage presence. The band consistently interacts with the audience, making them a part of the concert, not just spectators. That is what Live is all about.”
Recorded live at Calvary Church in Albuquerque, NM on June 6 in front of a sold-out audience of 2,200 fans, Worship Live features some of the band’s greatest hits from previous projects including “David Danced,” “Lord I come Before You,” “God People” and “Montaña,” while over half the album and DVD is dedicated to familiar worship anthems such as “Open The Eyes Of My Heart Lord,” “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever,” “I Love You Lord” and “As The Deer,” as well as Chris Tomlin’s “We Fall Down,” Waterdeep’s “Those Who Trust” and Tim Hughes’ “Here I Am To Worship.” The projects also feature the band’s upbeat arrangement of the old Latin hymn, “Con Poder,” which is also serves as the title track of its all-Spanish album.
“Worship is a very important part of all that Salvador does, so it was only natural for us to include some of our favorite worship songs on Live,” explains Gonzales. “At the same time, we knew we had to include some of our set staples, like ‘David Danced’ or ‘Lord I Come Before You,’ otherwise our fans would never forgive us!”
Produced by Chris Rodriguez (Souljahz, Erin O’Donnell), Worship Live was recorded without the use of tracks or studio overdubs, unlike many live albums in the market today. Instead, Salvador recruited three additional musicians for their horn section to create the rich harmonics and full sound often associated with Latin music, leaving the entourage only three members shy of traditional Salsa bands that consist of 14-members. Rodriguez also joined the band, playing guitar on the song “I Love You Lord.”
“It was an amazing night,” reflects Rodriquez, “Salvador is a band of exceptional musicians…very few artists can say they’ve put out a project that is completely live! No tricks, no tracks. The spirit and the energy of the band was definitely captured on this CD and DVD.”
Touring in support of Con Poder and the Worship Live CD and DVD, the eight-members of Salvador are gearing up to bring its trademark live performance to audiences across the country. Salvador will kick off its fall touring September 6 at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park for Disney’s Night of Joy, a private, after-hours weekend celebration featuring top Contemporary Christian artists. In addition to Salvador, this year’s Night Of Joy line-up includes Stacie Orrico, Jars of Clay, Kirk Franklin, Michael W. Smith, Yolanda Adams, Rebecca St. James, Switchfoot, Rachael Lampa, ZOEgirl, Point of Grace, Nicole C. Mullen, Petra, The O.C. Supertones, Freddie Colloca and Daily Planet.
Salvador will also join Jaci Velasquez this fall for “Unspoken- The Tour.” Beginning September 19 in Houston, TX, the 30-city tour will travel through such major markets as Abilene, Memphis, Denver, Sacramento, San Jose, Albuquerque, El Paso, Dallas, Birmingham and Orlando, among others. An itinerary of tour dates on which Salvador will be performing can be found below.
Furthermore, Salvador will be performing for the Franklin Graham Crusade at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa, OK on September 20 and for the Promise Keepers event in Denver, CO on September 27.
In addition to music from the new recordings, fans will be hearing a fuller sound from Nic Gonzales while on tour this fall. Endorsed by Gibson Guitars, the dynamic frontman was honored recently by the guitar maker with a rare Chet Atkins SST 12-string electric acoustic guitar at Gibson’s Valley Arts complex in downtown Nashville. Worth an estimated $8,000, the guitar has only been made a handful of times in Gibson’s history, just twice in the past five years with the other belonging to country music star Travis Tritt.
Salvador erupted onto the music scene three years ago with the buzz of its soulful music and the powerful voice of Gonzales. Their widespread appeal to both pop and Latin audiences has kept them touring an average of 200+ dates a year, with highlights including performances at Teen Mania’s Acquire The Fire youth conferences, Promise Keepers events and the Billy Graham and Franklin Graham Crusades.
