Having firmly established itself as a premiere
label in breaking new artists, Rocketown Records has signed its first truly
“new” artist in two years, Shaun Groves, whose debut project, “Invitation To
Eavesdrop,” will release worldwide on July 17, 2001. Since its launch in
1996, Rocketown has garnered New Artist of the Year Dove Award nominations
for Chris Rice, Watermark and last year’s winner Ginny Owens.
Produced by Grammy Award-winning and Dove Award nominee Monroe Jones,
Groves’ project displays a very different style from what has come to be
known as the “Rocketown sound.”
A diverse project both musically and lyrically, “Invitation To Eavesdrop”
celebrates the joy and wonder of Groves’ daily walk with Christ. A
songwriter at heart, Groves crafts songs featuring piano ballads which
softly surround his vocals as they pronounce lyrics with meaning and melody,
as well as many guitar-based tunes, reminding the listener of everything
they love about rock & roll.
“It’s not every day that a record of this weight comes along,” comments
Jones. “It’s edgy and passionate, yet very melodic; and its lyrics point
straight to Christ. It shows the heart of the artist, and his desire to
glorify God.”
With the project’s wide musical spectrum, Rocketown plans to release singles
at AC, CHR and Rock radio – giving “Invitation To Eavesdrop” the opportunity
to be Rocketown’s first true multi-format triumph. The first single will
ship to radio the first week in May.
“Shaun is a priority for us. In all honesty, he is our new artist focus for
2001,” commented Rocketown president Don Donahue. “His music is powerfully
deep and amazingly commercial at the same time, and while it may have been
two years since we introduced our last new artist, this project makes it
worth the wait.”
