Rewarding with Time

It’s not too hard to make your own ‘time card’ to punch, and it’s a lot of fun. Take a 3×5 index card and list the chores to be completed each day for a week. Then put a string around a hole-punch and tie it up in a convenient place. Have your children punch their cards after they’ve completed each chore. At the end of the day or week, have them turn the cards in and receive their payments (whatever you’ve determined ahead of time). But here’s the clincher: They can be docked for chores left undone on a specified day. For example, they aren’t allowed to sweep the floor twice on Friday to make up for forgetting on Wednesday and Thursday.
