Rebecca St. James, BarlowGirl Headline 2006 National Day Of Prayer TV Special

This Thursday, May 4th, is not just ‘another day in May’ -and organizers of the National Day Of Prayer want everyone to know it.
Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian artist Rebecca St. James, newly chosen National Spokesperson for the 2006 National Day Of Prayer, has been enlisted to focus the emphasis of a new generation of youth to participate in the May 4th call for America to pray. The Australian born singer has been recognized as a consistently articulate and passionate voice in media for God based faith and values agendas.
In addition to recording this year’s theme song for the National Day Of Prayer-“America, Honor God,” St. James is hosting and performing on a television music special, also scheduled to air pre the May 4th NDP observance day this Thursday.
The hour long special, “Freedom” was taped in Nashville on April 25th. The program mixes music, major name artists, innovative moments of art, spoken word, and candid filmed interviews with young people on their thoughts about the importance of prayer in America. Produced by Steve Gilreath of SGTV, producer of this year’s Gospel Music Awards, the program will air this week on television affiliates nationwide.
Joining St. James are musical guests BarlowGirl and Warren Barfield.
“We feel so honored that we were invited to be part of the National day of Prayer,” says BarlowGirl. “Our passion is to encourage everyone to draw closer to God through personal prayer times and to learn that only through prayer can we bring God’s kingdom to earth.”
Enlisting Rebecca St. James as 2006 National Spokeperson and producing a youth oriented television special are only the beginning steps of the National Day Of Prayer becoming more than a yearly observance one day each May. During the next twelve months, NDP organizers will begin a variety of efforts to encourage Christians of all ages in America to pray for the nation and its leadership in five centers of power: church, education, family, government, and media.
“America, Honor God” as recorded by Rebecca St. James is the first pop-oriented worship song used to represent NDP. Written by Atlanta songwriter Phil Laegar and produced by Grammy Award winning producer Tedd T., the song will be available for downloads through major web outlets this week. A music video was also produced for distribution nationally.
Affiliate networks confirmed to carry the “Freedom” television special include FamilyNet, INSP/I-Life, Cornerstone Network/CTN, NRB, and the Gospel Music Channel. Noted Steve Gilreath: “We’re confirmed for airing this week on multiple networks in observance of National Day Of Prayer this Thursday, with the re-play of multiple airings expected over the next few months. This affiliates list represents a huge share of American homes that will be able to access viewing of the NDP special.”
