Provident Garners 16 Grammy Nominations

Provident Music Group garnered a total of 16 nominations across
multiple categories for the 45TH Annual GRAMMY® Awards, as announced today by the Recording Academy®. The
press conference was held on the court at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 45TH Annual
GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 23 at the Garden and will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network from
8:00 – 11:30 p.m. (EST/PST).
Provident Music artists dominated the Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album category securing all five
nominations in that field. Nominees included Essential Records recording artists Paul Colman Trio for New Map
of the World, Jars of Clay, with two prior wins in this category, for The Eleventh Hour, and True Vibe for See The
Light as well as Reunion Records recording artists NewSong for The Christmas Shoes and Kathy Troccoli for
The Heart of Me. In the Best Rock Gospel Album category, Essential Records rock band Third Day garnered its
fourth nomination in this category for its album, Come Together.
Verity Records, the world’s largest gospel label, earned eight nominations this year and led the category of Best
Contemporary Soul Gospel Album with three nominations, including Speak Those Things: POL Chapter 3 by Fred
Hammond, The Commissioned Reunion “Live,” by Commissioned (Fred Hammond, executive producer) and
Lost and Found by Deitrick Haddon. Verity earned an additional three nominations and also led the category for
Best Gospel Choir or Chorus Album with Family Affair II Live at Radio City Music Hall by Hezekiah Walker and
the Love Fellowship Choir, Mighty in the Spirit by John P. Kee and the Victory in Praise Mass Choir and Soul
Interpretations by Bobby Champion and Excelsior. The top gospel label also garnered two nominations in the
category of Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album including Walking by Faith by The Canton Spirituals and Live in
Charlotte by Twinkie Clark & Friends.
In addition, BeBe Winans’ Live and Up Close project, distributed to the Christian retail market by Provident Music
Distribution in partnership with Universal/Motown Records, was nominated in the Best Contemporary Soul Gospel
Album field.
Rounding out Provident Music’s 16 nods was Brentwood Kids’ Big Songs for Little Kids – I Feel Like Praising,
which was nominated in the Children’s category for Best Musical Album.
