N one are turned away. A Prayer for Carolyn
When I do not have the words to say,
Dear Lord Jesus, help me when I pray.
Someone else has written down a prayer–
Gratefully with them their words I share:
Extend Thy goodness to Thy servant grieved
And so restore her to her former health.
To sense of weakness add strength of faith,
Your loving kindness permeate alway.
Amen.
One More Time
Today he slumps in a chair of blue
And cannot straighten for me or you,
But somewhere in the channels of time
Daddy still sips his “lemon and lime.”
Strong of back on the cool porch he drinks;
In fields crops grow while western sun sinks.
Girls and two boys in the back yard play;
This was our era, this was our day.
Straight-backed and tall with hands on the plow
He walked his fields, not huddled like now.
Of course we still love him, bent or tall,
Giving devotion, giving our all.
Come back with me now through yesterday–
Wander along . . . a visit . . . time’s play.
Just one more time I would love to see
Our Daddy talking to you and me.
Timing
What once had seemed
so far away
Has now become a brief
today.
