The people have spoken, choosing The Passion of the Christ over a list of worthy contenders as Favorite Movie Drama at the People's Choice Awards. The People's Choice Awards, announced January 9, 2005, in Santa Monica, CA, are chosen in a partnership with Entertainment Weekly magazine.
Nominees are determined by a "front row panel of over 6,000 entertainment enthusiasts" recruited by the magazine's editors. The panel votes on the various categories, with fans voting via the Internet for the winner. The other films nominated this year for Favorite Movie Drama were Ray, Finding Neverland, The Bourne Identity and Collateral.
