Pamplin Records and Gospel Music Association Team Up for More Dove Projects

Pamplin Records and the Gospel Music
Association (GMA) are again partnering to celebrate the best in Christian
music, with the release The Best of 2001 Dove Awards, a compilation project
which features 14 of the 2001 Dove Award winners and nominees. Releasing
May 8, The Best of 2001 Dove Awards marks the first release in a new
multi-project agreement which includes two additional Dove Award-themed
projects in 2001.
The continued cooperative effort between the GMA and Pamplin Records stems
from the successful release of last year’s The Best of 2000 Dove Awards,
generating sales of more than 85,000 to date. Initial retail orders for
Best of 2001 Dove Awards already top the 100,000 mark, with additional
orders continuing to be placed.
“We’re thrilled to have the association with Pamplin to market the official
commemorative recording of the 32nd Annual Dove Awards,” says Frank Breeden,
president of GMA. “As always, this is going to be a stellar recording of
the best our industry has to offer. It promises to be a successful
release.”

Included on the project are four Song of the Year Dove Award nominees,
including “Every Season,” “If You Want Me To,” “I Could Sing of Your Love
Forever,” and “Written On My Heart.” In addition, four of the five nominees
for Female Vocalist of the Year are represented (Jaci Velasquez, Nichole
Nordeman, Nicole C. Mullen and Rachel Lampa,) as well as New Artist of the
Year contenders Mark Schultz, Plus One and Lampa. (See attached list for a
complete track listing.)
In addition to The Best of 2001 Dove Awards, Pamplin will also release The
Best of Dove Awards projects in 2002 and 2003. In addition, the label will
also release two 2-CD sets in August, The Best of the Doves ’70s, ’80s,
’90s-Pop and The Best of the Doves ’70s, ’80s, ’90s-Southern Gospel. The
sets will highlight thirty years of contemporary Christian music at its
best.
“We are honored to be working with the Gospel Music Association on this
project once again,” says Brad Phillips, vice president and general manager
of Pamplin Records. “We were very pleased with the success of The Best of
2000 Doves Awards and are excited about the upcoming releases as well.”
