Before its December 19 release, Peter Jackson’s $270 million ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy was seen as a huge gamble for New Line Cinema. This is one gamble which is definitely paying off as ‘Lord of the Rings’ is now running rings around other nominees at Oscar time. Following its critical and commercial success at the box office, ‘Lord of the Rings’ dominated the Oscar field with 13 Oscar nominations.
