Concerned Nashville recording artists Avalon, ZOEgirl, Natalie Grant, The Katina’s, Building 429 and American Idol’s George Huff, will come together this Tuesday, September 13 at 7pm at Two Rivers Baptist Church (across from Opry Mills) for performances to benefit Katrina’s hurricane victims. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 6pm, with all proceeds going directly to the Tennessee Baptist Convention Relief Fund and the Nashville Chapter of the American Red Cross. Donations of soap, toothpaste, shampoo, personal grooming items, clothing and other essentials are also being collected at the benefit for evacuees who will soon make Nashville their temporary home.
“This is a horrific tragedy and we all want to help. This benefit is a way for us to grieve the loss and celebrate life. This concert has come together so quickly and we hope that this can be one of many outreaches of the Nashville Christian music community to the folks who have nothing. We’re hopeful that the donations coming from this event will somehow soften the blow for some of the families who so desperately need help.” explains Jody McBrayer of Avalon.
Local radio stations are joining hands to support and promote this important event, as well.
“Jody called with a request to the local Christian radio stations and we were all happy to help,” says Dick Marsh of 94 FM The Fish and Salem Music Network. The Morning shows on 94 FM The Fish, WAY FM, WNAZ FM, WFCM AM/FM, WENO and The Brian Mason Show are all promoting the event.
