The Week Beginning Sunday – February 11, 2001
Volume 78 – Number 6
Whenever a person turns to the Lord there is the open door of potential into
the lives of every person that person knows or will have contact with during
his lifetime. When the life is a person like Saul of Tarsus, the entire world
is changed. Christ saves us so that through us he may save others. To the
degree we consecrate ourselves into his service, he will sow the seed of
transformation in all of those we touch. Every conversion is the beginning of
an unseen world of other conversions. How would Christ use you?
COMMUNITY MINISTRIES
FISHING FOR MEN…….. YOU CATCH ‘EM, YOU CLEAN ‘EM
Jesus said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Mt.4:19), but
most Christians actually ignore the task of “fishing for men” as they follow
after Christ. The reason is very simple: If you actually “catch one,” you
have to clean him! When we bring sinners to Christ, the obvious next step is
that we invest ourselves into helping them clean up their lives (o-o-o,
stinky work!). However, remember this . . .if 1000 people each bring 2 people
to Christ, we then have 3000 children of God rejoicing together in Christ’s
love. NOW THAT’S EXCITING!
INTRODUCE PEOPLE TO JESUS
Introduce People to Jesus meets Sunday, February 11th at 4:30 PM in Main
Building Room 108 (Agape classroom). JOIN US!!
INVEST IN A MINISTRY
It is imperative that God’s people invest in doing the work and will of our
risen Lord! Each person must find his or her own way of allowing God’s grace
to bless friends and neighbors. So……invest in God’s work, and he will
invest himself into your life and your own personal situation. It is
impossible to out-give God. This is a “high-yield opportunity.” “Seek first
His kingdom and his righteousness……” You can know more by reading Matthew
6:25-33. Click here for more information on how to get involved.

CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES
DISCOVER YOUR GOD GIVEN “S.H.A.P.E.”
What kind of ministry would an administrative assistant at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center find as a relatively new member of First Church of
the Nazarene?
Joan Halliburton identified and clarified her God-given design for ministry
during “The Call to Christ’s Ministry” class, the S.H.A.P.E. profile and
an interview. Her heart for the elderly and the poor, along with her gifts of
service, encouragement and mercy led her to find several places of ministry.
The “E” of S.H.A.P.E. stands for a person’s life experience. Joan’s
experience of being a survivor of a murder-suicide in her family gave her the
background to share the testimony of God’s grace with those in our Ministry
of Hope. Her service gift motivated her to volunteer to be a member of the
communion preparation team that meets the first Saturday of each month.
