The Schermerhorn Symphony Center and its audience will rise up in song, as the Nashville Symphony hosts its first-ever Community Hymn Sings on Friday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. Led by guest conductor David Hamilton, the community is invited to sing-along to a program of inspirational hymns, accompanied by the Nashville Symphony and the Nashville Choir. In addition, celebrated artists Alison Krauss, CeCe Winans, Steven Curtis Chapman, Steve Green, David Phelps and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, led by Paul Kwami, will also participate by singing one of their own favorite hymns.

3/21/7 Sparrow recording artist Matthew West was invited to co-host Nashville’s FOX 17 “Tennessee Mornings” last Thursday. Filling in for co-host Charlie Chase, West participated in interviewing guests and dialogued with fellow hosts during the two-hour broadcast about such subjects as “American Idol,” sleep aids, education, and even a shark attack. West is currently working on the follow-up to his 2005 critically-acclaimed release, History.

3/13/7 In celebration of the release of Joanne Cash's latest CD Gospel, ACME Music Group has partnered with Gibson Showcase and Solid Gospel Network for the Joanne Cash Worldwide Album Release Concert to be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 7pm. The intimate concert event will be held at the Gibson Showcase at Opry Mills in Nashville, Tennessee. Doors open at 6pm. A Gibson guitar (valued at over $3,000.00) personally signed by Joanne Cash will be given away to one lucky member of the audience. $10.00 General Admission tickets are on sale at Lifeway Stores and the Gibson Showcase box office. 3/1/7 Christian music singer Gary Chapman pleaded guilty to a DUI charge on Thursday. Chapman will serve only two days of a 12-month sentence from a DUI charge. He was arrested for DUI and drugs during a traffic stop last September. Under the plea deal, he will serve 48 hours and pay a $350 fine. He will also lose his driver's license for a year and must take a course on alcohol.

The 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards ( will be presented on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 (8:00-10:00 p.m. CST) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn., hosted by Dove-winning artists Natalie Grant, Brian Littrell and Donnie McClurkin and broadcast in national syndication during the month of May.

The original Nashville Star Search - Trowbridge Symposium enters its new season at Gaylord Entertainment Center. Scheduled for July 20 - 23 2007, the event is Nashville's oldest career workshop and artist showcase event for all styles of music. Songwriters, singers, and bands compete for prizes and are judged by industry representatives from record labels, publishing companies, and talent agencies. Prizes include recording sessions on Music Row, a publishing contract, and a music video with TV exposure. Visit for details.
