Howard Publishing is delighted to announce that Scotty Smith, the pastor of Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, has been signed to do his first solo book project. The book, due to release in July, is entitled Objects of His Affection.
In 1997 Smith co-authored Unveiled Hope with Michael Card. Two years later, he and his close friend Stephen Curtis Chapman co-wrote the book Speechless to coincide with the release of Chapman’s now platinum-selling recording, Speechless. A list of contemporary Christian musicians who call Christ Community their home church would read like a “who’s who” of the music business. This church continues to grow because of the sensitive manner in which it seeks to present the message of the Cross.
The title for Smith’s Howard Publishing book, Objects of His Affection, is taken from a popular sermon series delivered by Smith at Christ Community. Executive editor, Denny Boultinghouse, remarked, “When I first heard these lessons from Scotty, I knew they had to be available in a book, and I am thrilled the book will be available next summer. Now thousands around the country will be able to experience the teaching that motivates thousands each Sunday.”
“People are often attracted to Christ Community because of the teaching of Scotty Smith,” continues Boultinghouse. “He is forceful in his presentation of the wonderful grace of God. The simple, yet powerful message of Jesus is foundational to all of Smith’s teaching.”
John Howard, president of Howard Publishing says, “We are pleased to be in this partnership with Scotty Smith, who is one of the premier teachers in the country.”
