Editorial: I have been watching with great sadness as Islamic protesters are once again wreaking havoc across the Middle East. This time the ensuing terrorism is because of an independent film made in the US and posted on the internet that portrays Mohammad as a womanizer. The Muslim response has been to attack U.S. and German embassies, to burn American flags, and to hold violent protests in Libya, Tunisian, Sudan, Yemen and other Islamic countries where people have been killed and wounded.
The U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed on Tuesday in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya’s city of Benghazi. The murders took place on anniversary of the September 11, 2001 al Qaeda attacks on the United States. Since then other have been killed and wounded by rioting Muslims around the world.
According to Reuters, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated that Washington had nothing to do with the film posted on the Internet, which she called “disgusting and reprehensible.” The Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff called a Christian pastor in Florida to ask him to withdraw his support for it.
Where is the outrage on the part of Hillary Clinton and the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff when films are made about Jesus that depict him as a womanizer or worse? Such films have been made, protested peacefully by Christians, and neither Hillary Clinton nor the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff had anything to say.
When are the peaceful Muslims going to rise up and stop tolerating violence at the hands of their brothers when they don’t like a book or movie, and when are we going to see Jesus get the same respect given to Mohammed by Hillary Clinton and the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff when defamatory books and movies are produced? I am not holding my breath for either.
