Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is fed up with the liberal sword waving and saber rattling at one of America’s favorite restaurant chains and he plans to do something about it. Chick-fil-A has come under fire from the homosexual community for comments Chick-fil-A Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy made in a recent radio interview: “We are very much supportive of the family — the Biblical definition of the family unit, and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about.”
The Jim Henson Company ended its relationship with the restaurant chain in the middle of a promotional campaign, and Mayor Thomas Mennino recently said he planned to make it “very difficult” for anyone to open a Chick-fil-A franchise in Boston unless the company caves in to pressure to accept homosexual marriage regardless of the company leaders’ religious convictions and beliefs.
Mike Huckabee is planning to rally those who support Biblical values to show their appreciation on Aug. 1 and has created a new Facebook page for those who want to show support for Chick-fil-A. Huckabee states, “I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld.” The host of the Fox News Channel talk show “Huckabee” goes on to tell the story of the Cathy family, whose vision to run a company with Biblical principles Huckabee calls “the true American success story,” saying, “It’s a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.”
Huckabee is asking people to join him on Wednesday, August 1 for “Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day” stating, “No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let’s affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1.”
For those who cannot eat at the restaurant on Wednesday, Aug. 1, Huckabee suggests tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.
