Tidying up the house can be a full-time job when you have little ones. Part
of my children’s morning chore list includes “Pick up personal belongings.”
They know I mean business–if anything is still left at breakfast, I put the
item in a large box or sack. Then, at the end of the week, the kids have the
option of buying it back for 25 cents per item or leaving it there for me to
take to the Goodwill store, a ministry, or the church nursery. If it’s hard
for you to donate a toy that you know cost a lot, try to remember that you’ll
probably be giving it to a child who will appreciate it enough to pick it up
when asked.
