May 1st was a ground-breaking evening with a sold out house, as thousands attended Mercy Ministries 20th Anniversary Concert Celebration at Nashville’s famous Grand Ole Opry House. Award-winning artists Amy Grant, Vince Gill, CeCe Winans, Point of Grace, Jonathan Pierce, Darlene Zschech and surprise special guests Natalie Cole and Titan’s head coach Jeff Fisher and his wife Juli, came together for a special night honoring Mercy Ministries and the impact it has had in both the Nashville community and abroad. The three-hour celebration was filled with music, memories and moving testimonies by girls from the Mercy homes as well as life changing stories from Mercy Ministries founder, Nancy Alcorn.
CA writer Sherry Siebert was there and gives us her first-hand report:
On Thursday, May, 1st, The Grand Ole Opry House hosted a benefit concert for Mercy Ministries’ 20th
Anniversary. The evening was filled with joy and singing as well as beautiful testimonies from girls whose
lives have been totally transformed by Jesus through Mercy Ministries. The founder, Nancy Alcorn was
highly praised all throughout the evening. A special note of recognition from our President, George W.
Bush was shared in gratitude and thanks for the efforts put forth by Nancy and the staff who work so
diligently to meet the emotional, physical and mental needs of hurting women and girls across America
and the world.
Various artist including Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Jonathan Pierce, Point of Grace, Natalie Cole and others
were on hand to provide music/entertainment in support for the fabulous work this ministry is doing.
Darlene Zchech ended the evening by leading us in a time of worship and praise in honor of our Lord
Jesus Christ for the work He has done and is continuing to do in so many lives.
