Lucas Aaron “Luke” Benward is best known for his starring role as Billy in “How to Eat Fried Worms,” his lead role in Disney Channel’s “Mostly Ghostly: Who Let the Ghosts Out?” and his performance as Charlie Tuttle in the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie, “Minutemen.”
At 13, Luke Benward is now releasing his first album “Let Your Love Out” releasing April 21, 2008 on iShine Records. Luke’s first album contains ten tracks, five songs sung by Benward and the remaining 5 instrumental versions for fans to sing along with. Besides the title track, other songs include “Get Up,” “Shine” and “Everyday Hero,” a song Benward dedicated to his mother.
Benward was featured on iTunes ® “What’s Hot” music page the week of March 2 where enthusiastic fans were already weighing in on “Let Your Love Out.” The hit daytime television show Rachael Ray has also selected Benward’s title track “Let Your Love Out” for their sweeps starting March 16. Winner of the 2008 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment, Rachael Ray is a daily one-hour syndicated talk show in its third season and is watched by millions of viewers.
Amidst his album launch, Benward is also nominated for his second Young Artist Award for “Best Performance in a TV, Movie, Miniseries or Special by A Leading Young Actor” in “Minutemen.” Benward took home a Young Artist Award in 2007 for his leading role in “How to Eat Fried Worms.” The 30th annual Young Artist Award’s show will take place on Sunday, Mar. 29 at the Universal Globe Theater in Studio City, CA. Not only is Lucas Benward an actor and singer, but he comes from a family of singers and actors. Luke was born to Aaron Benward and Kenda Benward in Franklin, Tennessee. His father is in the country duo Blue County, his mother is a part-time actress, model, and acting coach, and his grandfather is Contemporary Christian artist Jeoffrey Benward. Luke’s father and grandfather performed together during the 1990s as Aaron * Jeffrey. The Benward duo released their self-titled project “Aaron * Jeffrey” in 1994 and released three more projects after that including “Very Best Of Aaron * Jeffrey” in 2006.
Luke Benward follows the faith of his fathers as a Christian. He played the disciple Mark on the Word of Promise Next Generation New Testament dramatic audio bible for teens. He also performed in the “iShine” tour in 2008.
