Word Records singer/songwriter, MARK SCHULTZ received four nominations at the Gospel Music Association Dove Award Press Conference earlier this week. Schultz’s nominations were in the following categories:
· Song of the Year for “Child of Mine”, from Stories & Songs
· Male Vocalist of the Year
· Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for Stories & Songs
· Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Child of Mine”, from Stories & Songs
Stories & Songs, Schultz’ third project, has received much critical acclaim, with many people considering this to be the stand out album of his career thus far. “You Are A Child of Mine”, the first single from the album, quickly reached the #1 slot on R&R’s Christian AC radio chart and held steady for seven weeks. The song also nabbed the top slot on the CRW and PDA AC charts. “Letters From War”, a heart-warming song inspired by letters passed between Schultz’ great-grandmother and her son during WWII will be the next single, going to radio in late March.
Schultz has made quite an impact in Christian Music since releasing his self-titled debut in 2000. Seeing success in both Christian and Mainstream radio with the heart-gripping song “He’s My Son,” he has continued to amaze audiences with his ability to craft a story that relates to the masses. Schultz has six #1 singles under his belt with mega-hits “I Am The Way,” “Back in His Arms Again,” “I Have Been There,” “Remember Me” and the above-mentioned “He’s My Son” from his self-titled debut project and his sophomore release Song Cinema. In addition to his success at radio, Schultz has also been awarded the 2003 BMI Christian Song of the Year for “Back In His Arms Again”, 2001 American Songwriter Awards for both “Christian Publisher of the Year”, and “Christian Song of the Year” and he was the 2001 Beacon Award Recipient (from the Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
