The memories you make will be the ones your children keep, so make them good! Most individuals, when questioned about their most fond Christmas memory, will reflect upon a childhood one. So, as parents we must be mindful that!
This doesn’t have to involve some hug production or a lot of money … just
“meaningful time.” Take time to; bake and decorate cookies, take a drive and look at Christmas lights, grab the guitar or CD player and sing Christmas carols or make up new ones, build a snowman and drink hot chocolate … anything, just custom make it to your family! Carve your day into the walls of your child’s memory, so that they can have it for a lifetime!
Before, during or after your “memory in the making,” talk about Jesus! Make it fun and share your heart, let your kids know what Christmas means to you …. their parent. Let them connect the “good times” with heart felt conversation of their Savior. Then as they get older, and they are drawn back to the memory …. they can be surrounded by the warm and inviting talk about Christ, also! Begin the process of handing over “their” relationship with Jesus, so that they can “own” their walk and their faith in God. What better place to start than at the beginning …. the birth of Christ!!
Have fun this Christmas and make some great memories!
