Love Comes Down in India

“Love came Down At Christmas”, a musical ensemble with Christmas
Hymns, Solos and Carols was staged at the 800 capacity St. Andrew’s
Auditorium, Bombay on Thursday, 14th December at 7.30 p.m. The
programme had a premiere of the film, `Beyond Sight’ that was
Written, Produced and Directed by C. D. Jebasingh for Cephas
International. The theme of the film is, `Love is beyond sight’.
The programme was organized by, the Galilean International Film and
Television Service (GIFTS). It was a unique effort that used
traditional and contemporary Christmas songs with an unconventional
film to present the gospel. The programme commenced with the
rendering of the carol, “Love came down at Christmas” by a 16-member
orchestra and 8-member choir. It ended with the audience joining them
in singing the affirmative hymn; “Love lifted me” the strains of
which is the music of the film as its credits rolled out.
The impact that the presentation made on the audience was so ethereal
that they prayed with the Rev. Viju Abraham with praise and thanks to
our Lord and Master for giving them a new experience of awe and
wonder.
For the organizers, it came as a revelation that when gospel films
are used as communication tools along with appropriate media mix
suitable to the occasion, it creates great impact. The need for more
such programmes was keenly felt.
Doordarshan, the Government controlled TV Channel broadcasted an
edited version of the Musical section of the programme at 1.30.p.m.
