Lipscomb University Presents William Yelverton

The Lipscomb University Faculty and Friends Series presents
William Yelverton, guitarist, on Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. in the Ward Lecture
Auditorium, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.
Admission is free. The concert is open to the public. Everyone is invited to
attend.

Since his 1988, European debut in Glasgow, Yelverton has performed
throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. His concert schedule
has included performances at the Aspen and Tanglewood Music Festivals and
live radio and television appearances. In February of 2000, Yelverton was
selected to accompany legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti in concert with the
Nashville Symphony. Yelverton’s exceptionally diverse programs often include
jazz, folk, latin, and flamenco, together with early music performed in
Renaissance lute. As an authority on the art of guitar transcription, his
performances and recordings of masterworks by great composers have received
wide critical acclaim.

Yelverton holds a doctorate in guitar performance from Florida State
University and currently directs guitar studies at MTSU. He has won awards
in the Guitar Foundation of America International Competition and the
National Federation of Music Clubs. He is also a founding member of the
Stones River Chamber Players.
