The Lipscomb University Music Department presents the University Concert Band April 26 at 8 p.m. in Collins Alumni Auditorium, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.
The concert is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Concert Band will perform Dynamica by Jan van der Roost, Danza de los Duendes, or “Dance of the Goblins,” by Nancy Galbraith, and Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Aldridge Grainger.
“One of the classics of the band repertoire, Lincolnshire Posy is a gorgeous and intriguing collection of folks songs which were collected in the country-side of Lincolnshire in England around the turn of the 20th century,” said Dr. Stephen L. Rhodes, professor of music and director of the Concert Band.
“Grainger attempts to retain the “soul” of the folksingers presentation throughout this marvelous group of folk songs set in six movements: Lisbon, Horkstow Grange, Rufford Park Poachers, The Brisk Young Sailor, Lord Melbourne, and The Lost Lady Found,” he said.
