Lipscomb University Presents Mark S. Hansen

The Lipscomb University Leadership Dialogue Program presents
Dr. Mark S. Hansen on Oct. 24, at noon in Allen Arena, 3901 Granny White
Pike, Nashville.

With nearly three decades in the food retailing and distribution business,
Hansen has a proven track record in achieving sales and earnings growth. He
joined Fleming as chairman and chief executive officer in November 1998.
With its national, multi-tier supply chain network, Fleming is the number
one supplier of consumer package goods to retailers of all sizes and formats
in the United States. In addition, Fleming is the nation’s leading
distributor to Hispanic markets and has a growing presence in value
retailing, operating 109 stores under the Food4Less and Rainbow Foods
banners.

Prior to joining Fleming, Hansen was president and chief executive officer
for Sam’s Club, a $23 billion division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. While
working in this capacity, he repositioned the club format as a domestic
growth vehicle for Wal-Mart. He was credited with improving growth in sales
and income dramatically while implementing a comprehensive expense reduction
program.

The Leadership Dialogue program is a lecture series held on the Lipscomb
campus in which outstanding leaders in many fields, exemplifying the virtues
espoused by the Center for Leadership Excellence, are invited for public
lecture and for informal conversation with students, faculty, staff and
civic friends.
Admission to the program is free. The event is open to the public and
everyone is invited to attend. For reservations and more information, call
386-7653 or 800.333.4358, ext. 6216.
