The Lipscomb University Faculty and Friends Series presents
the Crescent Trio, on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. in the Ward Lecture Auditorium,
3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.
Admission is free. The concert is open to the public. Everyone is invited to
attend.
Formed in 2001, the Crescent Trio is dedicated to performing unique chamber
music literature for soprano voice, clarinet and piano. The group’s
repertoire ranges from the seventeenth century through contemporary
avant-garde works. Their programs often include selections by composers such
as Thomas Arne, Louis Spohr, Michael Horvit, Phyllis Tate, Ned Rorem and
George Gershwin.
The Trio was formed while all three artists were colleagues at MTSU. Soprano
Christine Isley-Farmer is a professor of music MTSU and as an Alexander
Technique practitioner, has conducted workshops throughout the Southeast.
Todd Waldecker, clarinetist, is an assistant professor of music at MTSU. He
is a member of the Stones River Chamber Players and performs frequently with
the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra.
Pianist Valerie Trujillo is an assistant professor of vocal coaching and
accompanying at Florida State University. Her experience includes regional
opera companies and summer music festivals, most notably the Tanglewood
Music Center.
