Christian high school choirs from the Middle Tennessee region will perform at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, at Lipscomb University’s Collins Alumni Auditorium.
The public is invited to this free festival featuring 400-500 students from area schools.
The choirs will perform several songs as a group, and each choir will individually perform two pieces.
Among the group selections are an African praise song called “Gabi, Gabi,” “The Lord is the Everlasting God,” a spiritual called “I Want to Thank You Lord” and a mass by William Byrd.
“This is an opportunity for high school students from smaller schools to be a part of a larger choir, and it gives students from a larger choir a chance to mentor and learn from the other students,” said festival conductor Gary Wilson, associate professor of music at Lipscomb.
The performing choirs will vary in size and the type of music they specialize in. Each group will bring something unique to the performance and will be able to teach as well as learn from each other, Wilson said.
