Lipscomb Landiss Lecture Series Presents Howard Bahr

The Lipscomb University Landiss Lecture Series presents
author Howard Bahr on Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 108 of the Swang Center,
3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.
Admission is free. The lecture is open to the public and everyone is invited
to attend.

Bahr will be speaking on the topic of “Outrun by
Time: Writing the Nineteenth Century.” His award-winning debut novel, The
Black Flower, was hailed as one of the finest Civil War novels in recent
years. Much of the action in the book centered around the Battle of
Franklin. In his second book, The Year of Jubilo, Bahr returns to the same
time period to weave another powerful and epic tale, that of a Confederate
soldier returning home to find that life would never be the same. A native
of Mississippi, Bahr worked for ten years as curator of Rowan Oaks, home of
William Faulkner. He lives in Tennessee and teaches English at Motlow State
Community College.
