This book grew out of the popular Turner South television show, “Liars and Legends” and will be promoted on the show. George Lindsey, who recently began as host of the show, wrote the book’s forward and will be available for promotion.
Each story has several pictures that enhance the story by letting the readers see for themselves the weird, strange, and interesting things that occur in the South.
One chapter is devoted to Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the hometown of Andy Griffith. Chapter 18 bears the title a.k.a. Mayberry, and focuses on the resemblances of Mt. Airy to Mayberry. Andy’s home place, Floyd’s Barbershop, Snappy Lunch and other familiar landmarks are featured. Russell Hiatt of “Floyd’s” is pictured as is Ann Vaughn of the Visitor’s Center.
Other chapters cover everything from Rock City to the ghosts of Savannah, Georgia. Liars and Legends offers a tasty portion of some of the South’s quirkiest stories that leaves the reader hungry for a larger helping of history.
