Letting Go

One phrase we say frequently around our house is “Just let it go.” Often we get angry when we don’t get what we want or think what we deserve. In the heat of the moment, we believe we have to fight for what’s rightfully ours! Yet in reality, what we want is usually not worth fighting for at all. That’s when it comes in handy to have Mom around
to suggest, “Just let it go.” If my suggestion is met with “But that’s not right I had it first!” I offer them a choice: “Would you rather be right or righteous?” This reminds them that it’s good to be right, but it’s godly to be righteous.
