Kick off the holidays with Lauren Daigle “Christmas Under the Stars” on Sunday, Dec. 6
Lauren Daigle “Christmas Under the Stars”
Christian pop artist Lauren Daigle celebrates her first full-length Christmas television special, “Christmas Under The Stars with Lauren Daigle.” The special airs Sunday, December 6 at 9 p.m. EST on BYUtv. You’ll hear Lauren’s Christmas memories and the influences of New Orleans Jazz in her renditions of Christmas classics and beloved originals from her Christmas album Behold in this intimate concert experience.
Wearing a white jacket, black pants and white top with black trim (with a couple of blouse changes during the show), Lauren Daigle takes the stage for a jazzy version of “Jingle Bells” for her holiday special.
“What Child Is This,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “White Christmas,” and many other Christmas classics follow, interspersed with Daigle’s holiday memories and thoughts about Christmas.
Daigle sings a soulful version of Nat King Cole‘s “The Christmas Song” before moving into a breathy version of “Emmanuel.” Then Daigle sings a new song I didn’t recognize. Several more breathy numbers follow, including “Christmas Time is Here” and “O Come O Come Emmanuel,” and then a jazzy “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” “Silent Night” features an instrumental interlude which turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the show.
Being deliberate in our kindness during the holiday season and realizing many people are lonely and miss lost loved ones during the Christmas season is a message Daigle talks about before singing “O Holy Night.”
Daigle ends the show with her own beautiful GMA Dove Award-Winning Song of the Year song, “You Say,” where her vocals are showcased the best, but the Christmas mood is missing.
