Bandwagon Marketing in partnership with the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Mississauga is pleased to announce, “Positive Urban Music Showcase” featuring from Orlando, Florida, Sereniti Records recording artists Ordained Praise www.ordainedpraise.com. Taking place August 12, 2006 at the McVety Centre, 50 Gervais Drive in Toronto at 7:30 p.m., the event will see three dollars of every ticket sold through the local Spanish churches, go towards a local Cuba fundraising campaign by the Spanish Pastors’ Association. Because of an organization called MEMO (Medical Equipment Modernization Opportunity) the money raised will be used to help ship a container full of much needed medical equipment, to a newly built hospital in Placeta, one of the smallest towns in Cuba. And according to the President of the Spanish Pastors’ Association, this showcase is a great tool to help what he believes is a powerful organization, “This event is important because it will bring different communities together, not just Spanish; and if we are unified then this will help create more opportunities for us to help”, says Felipe Gonzalez.
Though the Cuba fundraiser is an important aspect of this event, the showcase was created to provide a multi level platform for positive urban artists to be seen and heard “This is an exciting time for Gospel music in Canada especially here in Toronto,” says DeShaun Jones, Director of Bandwagon Marketing, “We want to leverage that fact to help promote positive entertainment that conveys a healthy and constructive lifestyle because I believe everyone can relate to Gospel or inspirational music”
Hailing originally from Puerto Rico and Panama, Ordained Praise has been uplifting audiences for many years with their mix of Hip Hop, R&B and a dash of their Latino heritage fused together creating a unique sound that can only be called inspiring. And although they come from different backgrounds, this trio of talented musicians all have one common goal, to incorporate all elements of their musical influences to form a unique and progressive sound for mass cross appeal. Committed to making sure their sound is heard worldwide, this group has brought audiences to their feet with their smooth urban sound and brought people to their knees with their songs of love and hope.
And that’s exactly what Pastor Gonzalez wants to bring to the people of Cuba, “Though we really didn’t put a dollar figure on how much we wanted to raise, sending one container will cost at least $6,500 and if we can fill just one, it would be great.”
Hosted by JEM of Shine TV, aired on the SUN TV Network, and Dave Estrella of CHIN Radio, “Positive Latin Music Showcase” will also feature an exciting line up of other Latin artists.
