Expolit 2002 Planned
Expolit is the annual convention that represents all of the Spanish Christian products around the world; this event is held in Miami and draws approximately 8,000 people. Expolit 2002 will be held May 15-21. LARAS (Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) is the organization that hosts the Latin Grammys as well as many educational and promotional events throughout the year. The year of 2002 is the first year that the Latin Grammys will have one award category dedicated to Latin Christian music.
“Future of the Industry” Video Being Produced
A “Future of the Industry” video is being produced to help educate industry leaders on the growing Latin demographic in the United States. The video will include presentations by LARAS, HNRB, Expolit and most of the key record companies. The video will be presented to each of the four tracks at GMA 2002 as well as presented at Expolit 2002 in May. The video will look at the mainstream statistics, marketing trends and corporate sponsorships as well as an overview of the current Latin Christian market with a challenge for addressing product needs in the future .
April 25, 2002—THE 3RD ANNUAL LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS will be broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, September 18 (9:00-11:00 PM, live ET; delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
4/30/02 Latin Grammys Add Christian Category
The third annual show, which will present performances by the genre’s
leading artists, marks the largest celebration of Latin music on television
and honors creative achievement in the field of Latin music.
The Latin Recording Academy has also added two new award categories
this year: Best Contemporary Tropical Album and Best Christian Album,
bringing the total number of categories to 41. Nominations for the LATIN
GRAMMY AWARDS are expected to be announced in July.
