Kutless is continuing to blaze a path as one of Christian music’s hottest
new acts. Since the release of their 2002 self-titled debut album on Tooth
and Nail records in July, Kutless has become one of the biggest breakthrough
stories of the year. Extensive touring with artists including
Switchfoot and the O.C. Supertones, 2 number one rock singles, one top ten
CHR single, a Dove award nomination, and explosive album sales certainly provide a good definition of breakthrough!
Kutless, which began in 1999 as a worship band in the Northwest, has seen
retail sales averaging more than 2,000 scans a week and has sold more at
Christian retail than any other new artist in 2002 (according to Neilson
SoundScan). In fact, Kutless has maintained its position in the Top 100
Christian Albums every week since its release.
The band’s first rock single “Your Touch” raced up the R&R charts to number
one and was soon followed by “Run” their second rock single to reach the
number one position. Recently, “Run” has also crossed onto the top ten CHR
charts, giving the band multi-format success. Heather Erbe of WAYK Kalamazoo
says, “Kutless gives us a cutting edge sound with solid Christian lyrics to
match! I can’t wait to hear what’s coming next from these guys!”
After receiving a recent Dove nod for “Best Rock Album of the Year” the band
is now gearing up to join “The Go Show” tour this spring with Audio
Adrenaline and Mercy Me. Drummer, Kyle Mitchell notes, “We know that all of
these blessings are one hundred percent God and we are excited to see what
the future holds.” The tour kicks off in Springfield, Missouri on February
20, 2003 and will hit over 50 cities and play to an estimated 100,000 fans.
You can also catch Kutless this summer at many 2003 festivals including
Creation East and West, Spirit West Coast, Cornerstone and Purple Door.
