This summer, God will be the subject of a fun-filled 4-day music festival held at one of America’s best amusement parks. The 19th annual Kingdom Bound Christian music festival will be held at Six Flags Darien Lake amusement park and camping resort in Upstate New York this July 31-August 3.
The annual festival, which typically attracts 60,000 people from all over the United States and Canada, features over 40 popular recording artists, including headliners Michael W. Smith, MercyMe and Newsboys.
Michael W. Smith is a Grammy-award winning, multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter-producer with over two decades of success in Christian and secular music. Best known for his pop hits, “I Will Be Here For You” and “Place In This World,” as well as his recent “Worship” and “Worship Again” projects, Smith is considered one of Christian music’s most popular and enduring artists.
MercyMe is a pop-rock band whose “I Can Only Imagine” and “Here With Me” songs have become huge hits on secular adult contemporary radio stations during the past two years.
Newsboys, a rock band originally from Australia, have sold over 5 million albums in their two decades together as one of Christian rock’s favorite touring groups. Known for their energetic live rock shows, comparable to U2’s, Newsboys are known for Christian radio hits like “Shine” and “He Reigns.” According to Donna Russo, Kingdom Bound’s Executive Director, Newsboys are the festival’s favorite guests: “They have played at 15 of the 18 Kingdom Bound festivals,” she says. “They have remained consistent over the years, both in the quality of music and the content of their ministry.”
Russo adds, “The prayer and focus of Kingdom Bound Ministries has been the creation of an event where everyone is welcome to attend, a place where people would find a ministering body that would help them in their spiritual growth, and where those who need a relationship with Christ could come uninhibited by fears, free to find a personal place with God.”
Kingdom Bound tickets are surprisingly affordable and include admission to amusement park rides, like the giant Ferris wheel and the Superman: Ride Of Steel coaster. Campsites are currently available for the duration of the event. Tickets can be charged by phone at 716-633-1117 or 1-800-461-4485, Monday through Friday 10-5pm EST, or ordered online at www.kingdombound.org. Six Flags Darien Lake is located halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, about six miles south of NYS Thruway exit 48A on Route 77 in Darien Center, New York.
