~ About author Kathryn E. Darden ~
Kathryn Darden is a Nashville-based publisher, editor, and archivist with a career spanning over three decades. Her work has consistently centered on preserving niche American narratives and leading media transitions into the digital age.
In 1992, Darden founded Christian Activities, making history as the first publication specifically dedicated to the Christian music and entertainment industries in Nashville, Tennessee. Recognizing the potential of the burgeoning internet, she led the industry again in 1995 by establishing one of its earliest online presences. Over the next decade, her portfolio expanded into Christian Activities Publications, where she produced vital industry resources, including a comprehensive directory of Christian music businesses and several volumes of Christian poetry, as well as launching Christian Activities editions for Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia.
Her editorial reach has long included the preservation of regional culture. For several years, Darden authored and published a specialized series of poetry books celebrating the legacy of The Andy Griffith Show, which were featured annually at the Mayberry Days festival in Mount Airy. This project—alongside her work in industry newsletters and directories—showcases her career-long ability to bridge the gap between historical fact and personal, evocative storytelling.
Her publicity articles have been featured in The Tennessean, the Nashville Banner, and the Baptist Reflector. A former staff writer for Barbie Bazaar Magazine and a featured contributor to the Yahoo Contributor Network and Examiner, she has also been a regular contributor to The Westview and numerous other journals and websites. She has been profiled in The Tennessean, The Baptist and Reflector, The Brentwood Journal, and the Review Appeal, and has a biographical tribute to her father that appeared in the July 2026 edition of Good News Lebanon.
In recognition of her 30 years of contributions to the field of publishing and her pioneering role in Nashville media, Darden was recently selected for inclusion in the 2026 Marquis Who’s Who registry. In August, she was also included in the 2026 Influential Women directory.
Today, she is applying her decades of investigative and editorial expertise to her most personal project to date: the narrative biography of her father, Colonel William A Darden, Junior. By meticulously cataloging a lifetime of military records, personal diaries, and historical artifacts, she seeks to reconcile the public duty of a soldier with the private search for faith and legacy.

Hi, I’m Hannah. I took a quick look at your site and think it is great.
Mrs. Darden,
I am writing a book on religion and Islam. It is almost complete. I was researching and found your website and information on formerly Christian countries. I then read that you not only write but also publish. My question is: do you publish other people’s books, or just your own?
Thank you.
Hal
While I used to publish some small, niche books and directories, I haven’t done so in many years. However, I have been considering publishing new, updated editions of my own books (starting with How to Promote Your Book on a Shoestring Budget), and if I find an economical method of doing so, I might consider publishing for others again at some point, but it is not something I am currently doing. Best wishes finding a publisher.
