The next meeting of the Nashville City Civitan club will take place on Weds. Dec. 7 at Swetts Restaurant in West Nashville.
About The Honorable Judge Bill Higgins
The speaker at the first of the two December meetings will be The Honorable Judge Bill Higgins will be speaking about “everything from traffic tickets to murder.†Judge Higgins is the senior jurist of the General Sessions Court. He was elected to the bench in 1980 and re-elected in 1982, 1990, 1998 and 2006. Higgins is a graduate of Cohn High School, Vanderbilt University and the YMCA Night Law School (now known as the Nashville School of Law). After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree from Vanderbilt, Judge Higgins served two years active duty in the United States Army Signal Corps and rose to the rank of Captain by the time of his honorable discharge from the Army Reserve. Higgins will speak on Dec. 7.
The 2nd Dec. meeting will take place on Wed., Dec. 21, 11:30 AM at Swett’s and will be a “dirty Santa” gift exchange among club members.
The club is also hosting a Christmas social on Dec. 8 at 5:30 PM at at McCabe Pub on Murphy Rd., and on Fri., Dec. 9, the service organization is sponsoring the John Early Middle School Junior Civitan Club Charter Ceremony, at 3:15 PM at the school.
