Josh Jackson Band Gets Local Kudos

The Josh Jackson Band, Nashville’s newest and hottest pop/roots rock group has been named BEST NEW BAND and BEST LOCAL ROCK BAND by The Nashville Scene’s “Best of Nashville” Readers Poll. The poll, which honors winners in over 100 categories, has been one of the magazine’s most popular issues for the last several years.
The honor comes as quite a surprise to the band. “I could have never dreamed that we would be honored like this” says lead singer, Josh Jackson. “There are so many great bands, songwriters and musicians in Nashville. To be named among the best is totally amazing. We have so many great friends and fans in the area and they really pulled together for us on this one.” The Josh Jackson Band, which is similar in style to Sister Hazel, Train, Vertical Horizon or Edwin McCain is working on their debut release at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, TN. and an August 2002 release is anticipated.
“This new project is not so much a Christian album as the last one was, but all of our member are strong believers and we would never deny that for the sake of the music,” Josh says. “While the music might not be the same as say Point of Grace or Steven Curtis Chapman, it definately has an audience in the Christian market.” Josh states that he and his new guitar player Drew Powell are currently working on several new P & W songs for an upcoming project. “We are doing a Christian set at the Cancer Relay for Life this weekend at Hillsboro High School, we recently played at Kindred Bookstore and then we are doing The Western Beat Roots Revival at Exit / IN next week, so we are all over the map, hopefully influencing people for the better all along the way.”
