Jim Brickman Brings The Gift

Provident Music Distribution and Windham Hill artist Jim Brickman celebrated the opening of the Christmas season with a No. 1 record on the SoundScan compiled Christian Instrumental chart the end of November.

Brickman’s The Gift features the hit single of the same name with country music stars Collin Raye and Susan Ashton on vocals, as well as “Hope Is Born Again,” performed by top Christian group Point of Grace. The Gift has become an instant holiday favorite, landing on three different radio charts simultaneously and winning a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association.

Brickman began his career as a classical piano student at the Cleveland Institute of Music. For thirteen years he composed themes and jingles for
advertising agencies and eventually began crafting instrumental recordings
of his original compositions. In 1997 he released Picture This, which
included a vocal track sung by country superstar Martina McBride entitled,
“Valentine.” The song was an immediate success on country and Adult
Contemporary stations. Brickman has since gone on to become one of the most
remarkable success stories in pop music: a solo piano player whose creative
and gentle melodies have made him a million-selling artist.
In addition to the title-track, The Gift includes Brickman performing
beautiful piano arrangements of such Christmas favorites as “Joy to the
World,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” “Little Town of Bethlehem,” and
“The First Noel,” as well as several of the artist’s own original Christmas
compositions.
