Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Messiah is a comprehensive narrative of the gospel story of Jesus of Nazareth. Since this narrative of the life of Christ is told in sequential order from all four gospel accounts, readers don’t have to flip back and forth between Matthew, Mark, Luke and John or use a concordance.
Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Messiah takes books like “A Harmony of the Gospels” in a different direction. Instead of presenting all four gospel accounts side by side for comparison, Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Messiah is a paraphrase of the life of Jesus with stories and details of his life told in chronological order from the four writers of the synoptic gospels. Hearing all four voices in one reading presents an interesting perspective of the life and times of Christ, and nearly 120 Old Testament references are embedded throughout the body of the text for scriptural validation of the gospel.
Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Messiah ia an easy-to-read 278-page paperback which was created as a beginner’s tool to challenge and prepare Christians of all ages and covers the complete gospel story of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ as a single narrative. A very helpful tool, the guide nonetheless interjects some of the viewpoint and phrasing of author Jonathan B. Hobbs, such as calling the apostle John “the baby prophet” in numerous place. Like any paraphrase, Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Messiah, should not be taken as… well… gospel, but it is a very helpful tool for putting the gospel stories together in a readable fashion.
