Jake, Matt Brouwer Nominated for Vibe Awards

Reunion recording artists Jake and Matt Brouwer were
nominated for multiple Vibe Awards in the 1st Annual Canadian Gospel
People’s Choice Awards. The SoundsAlive
Vibe Awards are the new Gospel People’s Choice Awards in Canada. The awards will be presented on May 11 at the Telus
Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Canadian brother trio, Jake, is nominated for Group of the Year, Artist of
the Year and Song of the Year for “Believer” (written by Toby Penner and
Eldon Winter). Jake’s 2001 self-titled debut album is nominated for
Contemporary/Pop Album of the Year. Jake released their sophomore project, Army of Love, on February 26, 2002,
and will be touring in Canada with the Newsboys in June 2002.
Nova Scotia-native Matt Brouwer is nominated in five of the eight categories
including Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. Brouwer’s 2001
debut, Imagerical, is nominated for both Contemporary/Pop Album and Worship
Album of the Year, while his hit single, “Water,” is among the 10 selections
vying for Song of the Year honors.
Jake and Matt Brouwer are both scheduled to perform at the ceremony.
For the first time, people across Canada will be able to choose their
favorite Canadian gospel artists. Voting opened on April 12 over the
Internet at www.soundsalive.org . The awards
ceremony is a presentation of SoundsAlive in conjunction with the Canadian
Gospel Music Association and Compassion Canada.
