Platinum-Selling Recording Artist Jaci Velasquez celebrates this Father’s Day with the release of “Unforgettable” recorded with her father, vocalist David Velasquez. The single is now available on iTunes, and it marks the first time in 20 years that the father-daughter pair has recorded together.
“Being in the studio with my dad again was comfortable and refreshing…like no time had passed” said Jaci. “And to be there recording such a classic father-daughter song as “Unforgettable”…well, that was just priceless!”
Jaci’s parents divorced when she was young and in the process of signing her first record deal. Since then, Jaci’s relationship with her father has had its ups and downs. She credits her husband, Nic Gonzales, for helping rebuild the father/daughter relationship.
“When Nic wanted to ask me to marry him, he went to my dad to ask his permission for my hand in marriage,” explained Jaci. “That was the catalyst for rekindling my relationship with my father. It feels so good to have a strong relationship with my daddy again.”
Jaci remembers recording with her father when she was a child prior to her first record deal. She credits him for her voice and talent.
“God blessed both my dad and me with the gift of song,” commented Jaci. “My dad used that gift and taught me everything he knew. The Velasquez family is very talented, and with His blessing, I hope that together we pass along that same gift to my children.”
Jaci and David’s song is available now on iTunes and will be available at other digital service providers in time to celebrate Father’s Day.
